Thanks to the efforts of a local scout, Cedar Mountain Battlefield now has additional split rail fencing and trail signage that enhance our visitors’ experience.
We very much appreciate scout Eddie Fleming’s leadership on recent battlefield fencing and signage projects as part of earning his Eagle Scout rank. During fall 2020, Eddie led a group of Scouts in putting up 150 feet of historically appropriate split rail fencing along the old Orange-Culpeper road trace through the battlefield. He designed the trail signage in coordination with Culpeper’s JIMNI Custom Laser Engraving and then installed the signage at key trail intersections on the battlefield. Eddie is a member of Troop 196 in Culpeper County.
The battlefield has benefited from a number of scout projects over the years and we are always very grateful for the scouts’ hard work.
